If you’re in an industry where you still meet with other team members in person, try taking your meetings outside. Go for a walk and tackle the meeting topic while you all get fresh air and sunshine.

Similarly, if you have a friend who wants to meet up for coffee or a lunch date, suggest doing something active instead. Plan a hike, walk downtown and window shop, break out the rollerblades, or take a leisurely bike ride.

One more way to get moving is to walk around the office. Instead of sending a chat or an email, get up from your desk and go talk to your co-worker in person. It feels so good to get up from your workstation and move your legs!

Play On The Playground

If you have kids, you know how excited they are when you make a trip to the park. Instead of being a bystander, play with your kids on the playground. Swing, slide, and climb your way to more movement in your day.

Park Far Away

Whether you’re going into the office or running errands, park as far away from the building as you can, because, every step counts! That little extra walk from the parking lot to the store adds up.

Do An Exercise Every Hour, On The Hour

A great way to get moving and break up your day is to do an exercise every hour, on the hour. This could be push-ups, sit-ups, mountain climbers, etc. — pick an exercise each day and set some alarms!

Do Chores

While this seems like a real bummer, not only are you killing two birds with one stone, but you’ll be amazed at how many extra steps you take and calories you’ll burn doing basic chores. Try things like vacuuming and cleaning your bathrooms, or raking leaves, mowing your lawn, or gardening.
